{"id":942,"date":"2016-02-26T16:41:15","date_gmt":"2016-02-26T21:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mroelectric.com\/blog\/?p=942"},"modified":"2019-05-20T15:10:28","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T19:10:28","slug":"checking-simodrive-power-section","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mroelectric.com\/blog\/checking-simodrive-power-section\/","title":{"rendered":"Checking the Simodrive Power Section"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ohm Checking the Simodrive Power Section<\/strong><br \/>\nCaution!\u00a0 It must be assured that power is removed and the DC Bus has drained to a safe level before any connections are removed or checked!<\/p>\n<p><em>Check out our website for all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mroelectric.com\/siemens\/1\">Siemens<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mroelectric.com\/siemens\/simodrive\/1\">Simodrive products<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After you are sure that the DC Bus has safely discharged , a DVM on the Diode scale can be used to detect if a\u00a0 short circuit or open exists in the power section.\u00a0 Readings will vary with module size.<\/p>\n<p>Note:\u00a0\u00a0 P600 and M600 are the 600 V DC Bus connections.\u00a0 U2, V2 and W2 are the motor connections.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Disconnect the P600, M600 bus bars, U2, V2 and W2 connections.\u00a0 This isolates the power module from the motor and DC Bus.<br \/>\n\u2022 Diode check between P600 and U2, then V2 then W2.
