The 6RA70876FV620 is a SIMOREG DC-MASTER converter manufactured by Siemens for industrial power supply demands. The SIMOREG DC MASTER converters (Series 6RA70) are digital, compact devices for 3-phase power supply. They provide power to the armature and field of DC drives with current ratings from 15A to 3000A. Up to 12000A can be supplied by connecting multiple units in parallel. The field circuit can handle up to 85A of current. These products are manufactured in Germany and are designed for Automotive, aerospace, power generation, and electronics usage. The 6RA70876FV620 with a rated DC current of 850A (1200A at 400V supply voltage) has an isolated thyristor module design for the armature and field power section. This results in the electrical isolation of the heat sink. For higher-rated DC current devices, the armature circuit power section is composed of disk thyristors and voltage potential heat sinks (thyristor assemblies). The housing and terminal covers offer protection against accidental contact for operators in the area. All connection terminals are conveniently located at the front and the cooling system of the power section is monitored with temperature sensors.

The devices with a 460V rated connection voltage have several special features. Firstly, this device series comes in a range of rated direct currents, from 30A to 1200A, making it suitable for different power requirements. Secondly, for devices with rated direct currents of 450A to 1200A, a 1-phase fan is included to ensure proper ventilation and cooling. Finally, for devices with rated direct currents of 60A to 850A, the power terminals are conveniently placed on both the bottom and the top of the device, making them easily accessible.

Drive control and communication functions, both open-loop and closed-loop, are executed by two advanced microprocessors. These functions are implemented in software as program modules that can be configured using parameters.

The specified continuous DC currents (rated DC currents) on the rated plate can be exceeded by up to 180% in load class Ι, with the permissible overload being specific to each converter. The microprocessor continuously calculates the current I2t value of the power section to ensure the thyristors are protected during overload operation.

The converters automatically adjust to the frequency of the available supply voltage, which can range from 45 to 65Hz, with the armature and field being independently operable. Additionally, they have the capability to operate in an extended frequency range of 23 Hz to 110 Hz.
