It is used to switch the digital input terminal logic between the two different modes. It is preset to sinking mode and must be switched to achieve sourcing mode.

-Control digital inputs by PNP transistors by setting the DIP switch S3 to SOURCE and use an external 24 V power supply.
When selecting DIP switch S1 analog input signals, there can either be a voltage or a current signal input regarding the main frequency. A1 and A2 can both be used for voltage signals, but current signals, you must use A2.
Set DIP switch S1 to the left position, the “V” position, and program parameter H3-09 to “0” or “1” when using input A2 as a voltage input. Terminal A2 used for current input uses the DIP switch S1 setting “I” with parameter settings H3-09= “2” or ”3”.
The braking resistor is a feature that allows your motor to come to a smooth stop in a quick manner when working with loads high in inertia.
