The Schneider Electric PL57 processor application memory is split into three separate divisions. The three processor application memory divisions are distributed over the internal RAM memory and the PCMCIA memory extension card. The internal ram contains the application data area. In the Internal RAM or the PCMCIA memory card is the application program area. Within the internal RAM or the PCMCIA memory card is the constants area. The application memory can be organized in a couple of different ways. The first way is with a memory extension installed. (The memory extension is a PCMCIA format card.) The second way the application memory can be organized is without the memory extension.
In Internal Ram- encompassed within the processor’s battery-backed internal 64 kword RAM is the fully loaded application.
In the PCMCIA card- The internal RAM is available for the application data as the PCMCIA card has the program and constants.
In the extension area- an extension of 160 k words can be extended to 2688 through the use of an SRAM PCMCIA memory card.
The display block with 5 LEDs: RUN, ERR, I/O, TER, and FIP. The RUN LED is green when the processor is in operation. The ERR LED displays red when there is a fault on the processor. It also displays red when one of the auxiliary devices such as the PCMCIA memory card and PCMCIA communication card has a fault. The I/O LED will display RED when there is a fault on another PLC station or configuration fault. The TER LED will indicate yellow when there is activity spotted on the TER or AUX terminal port. The FIP LED displays RED when activity is observed on the integrated Fipio bus.
The Schneider Electric TSXP57203M has a reset button that initiates a cold start of the PLC when pressed, and has two (2) 8-way female mini-DIN connectors; one marked TER and the other marked AUX. It has a PCMCIA slot for memory cards and one for communication.

The processors manage the whole PLC station of discrete I/O modules, analog I/O modules, and application-specific modules.
