The Schneider Electric 140DAO84010 discrete I/O uses the same strategy as the other Quantum I/O modules as it begins numbering with one and counts forward to the maximum number that is supported by the module. The 140DAO84010 is a 16-output module which numbers starting at one and counting forward to sixteen. For the software channels, however, the number begins at 0, which stands for the least significant bit in a word (LSB). The Schnieder Electric Quantum I/O includes their lowest channel mapped to the most significant bit (MSB).
The Schneider Electric Modicon Quantum 140DAO84010 output module can be configured as either 16 contiguous discrete % M output references, or as one %MW output word.
The Quantum mainly discrete I/O modules can be configured to deliver their I/O data in two different formats. The two formats included with the mainly discrete I/O modules are word format and bit format. The Modicon I/O module format is able to be chosen at the time of configuration. The selection is done by selecting either %IW (%MW) or %I (%M). How do you access a single bit form an I/O module using an I/O word? If you need to access a single bit from an I/O module configured to use an I/O word, you can use the syntax %word.bit.

What is the benefit of using IODDT addressing? IODDT Addressing allows all info, both bits and registers, related to a channel. The information is then handled through a user-defined variable. The chosen user-defined variable is defined in the Control Expert data editor. This is done by selecting the appropriate IODDT for the module as a data type. You must specify the topological address of the module using the following syntax: %CH[\b.e\]r.m.c.
The Modicon Control Expert allows for a couple of IODDTs. These IODDTs are either generic and can be used for several I/O modules or belong to one specific module.
