Altivar Variable Speed Drive ATV71HU22N4

The Altivar variable speed drive module ATV71HU22N4 is manufactured by Schneider Electric for use with three-phase motors. The ATV 71 500 V three-phase, serving complex machines, has a power range for 50-60 Hz line supply of 0.37kW-630hp/0.5kW 700 hp. The degree of protection for the variable speed drive is IP 20.  These products are manufactured in France and are designed for Material handling, packaging, and textile machines usage. They come with a 2-year warranty from MRO Electric. We also carry AC Drives from other manufacturers such as Modicon and ABB.

What is the cooling method for the ATV71HU22N4? The Schneider Electric variable speed drive uses three cooling methods; heatsink, base plate, or water-cooled system.

Features of the Schneider Electric ATV71HU22N4

The Altivar ATV71HU22N4 is supplied with a remote graphic display terminal that is user-friendly. Drop-down menus offer easy access to complex functions and online help screens. The ATV 71 has a standard six language availability with additional available via flash memory. Up to four configuration files are able to be stored and the machine is customizable for your particular needs. 

Maintenance and monitoring

For diagnostics, the Altivar ATV 71 variable speed drive modules employ built-in functions for maintenance and monitoring.  Some of these functions include test functions on the diagnostic screen. These functions are displayed on the remote graphic display terminal. The Altivar ATV 71 has built-in I/O maps, communication maps (for the different ports), and display terminal languages loaded in the flash memory. Remote use of these functions happens by connecting the drive to a modem via the Modbus port. It maintains an Oscilloscope function that can be viewed using the SoMove setup software. The drive is able to store messages of up to 5 lines of 24 characters. Error logs with a display of the value of up to 16 variables on the occurrence of a fault. The drive is capable of identification of the drive's component parts as well as the software versions. Through the use of microprocessors with flash memory, there is the management of the drive installed base.

Option cards for the variable speed drive 

Schneider Electric offers many option cards designed for the Altivar to elevate adaptation to applications making the drive more flexible. Up to three different option cards at the same time. Two of them are cards like I/O extension cards, and communication cards, and one encoder interface. Encoder interface cards include RS 422-compatible differential outputs; with open collector outputs (NPN); with push-pull outputs; resolver; with SinCos, SinCos Hiperface®, EnDat®, or SSI universal outputs; with RS 422-compatible differential outputs plus encoder emulation (RS 422 ESIM).

Encoder interface cards improve the value of the Altivar drive. They are used for Flux Vector Control operation ( w/ sensor) for asynchronous motors, or Vector control operation ( w/ speed feedback) for synchronous motors.

Remote mounting is available on an enclosure door with IP 54 or IP 56 degree of protection on IP 20 drives.

The ATV71HU22N4 variable speed drive utilizes Modbus and CANopen communication. Communication options available for the ATV 71 are the Modbus TCP Daisy Chain, Modbus/Uni-Telway, EtherNet/IP (RSTP), DeviceNet, PROFIBUS DP V0, and V1, Interbus, CC-Link, Profinet, EtherCAT, and POWERLINK.
