The Modicon BMXDDI1602 is a quality product manufactured by a trusted industry leader, Schneider Electric. It is a module shaped for connecting to various sensors. The BMX DDI 1602 is a 24 VDC discrete unit. It is joined by way of a 20-pin terminal block connection. Known as a sink, or positive logic module, it has 16 input channels which are located on the front of the module. These channels take current input from the sensors. Each of the Modicon discrete input/output with 20-pin terminal block connections has to be connected to the terminal block.
The Modicon discrete input/output module is powered by the bus of the rack and you can handle it without turning off the power supply to the rack itself. It will not damage or disturb anything on the PLC if you handle the discrete input/output with the power to the bus rack. Remember to remove the protective cap from the module connector which is on the rack before you install the module. How does the installation process happen? You must position the locating pins that are on the bottom part in the slots that correspond to the rack. Make sure the protective cover is removed first. The next thing you will want to do is to swivel the module up toward the top of the rack. Make sure that it sits flush with the backside of the rack. At this point, it is set in place and needs to be secured. To secure the unit in place you will tighten the retaining screw to make sure that it stays in place.
A general description of the Modicon X 80 brand discrete input/output module is a standard format unit which means it takes up a single position. It is fitted on this Modicon module with a 20-pin terminal block, but it can also come with 40-pin and 2 40-pin blocks.
The Modicon input modules receive signals from sensors and are then able to implement several functions with that signal. Some of these functions include:
Outputs of this module store the orders the processors give. It does this to control the pre-actuators by way of decoupling and amplifying circuits.
To make sure your connection is up to par, it will need to be tested. To test the connection, first, ensure that the sensor data is registered by the inputs and also by the processor that corresponds. Also, check to make sure control orders are being processed from the processor by the outputs and sent to the corresponding pre-actuators. When that is complete you can check the connection of your discrete I/O module with a terminal.
To check the output connections from the terminal you must set each bit that corresponds to output to 1 and then to 0. The next step is to check that the corresponding output LED will turn on and then check that it will turn off. Next, check that the corresponding pre-actuator activates and de-activates.
