The Unidrive UNI2403 size 2 drive is manufactured by Control Techniques. This module has a nominal rating of 11 kW @ 380 V and a nominal rating of 15 hp @ 460 V. The output current is 25 A and the typical input current is 21.0 A.
There are four operating modes for the Control Techniques Uni2304. The operating modes are open-loop, closed-loop vector, servo, and regen. The front has an upper and lower display with 5 programming keys. It has three control keys for controls such as Forward, Reverse, Stop, Reset, and Run. Beneath the control keys is a connection for a small option module. The final connections on the bottom front of the Uni2403 are the control connectors and the encoder connection. The filter type footprint or bookcase. The maximum cable size for this module is 4 mm2 10 AWG. The max cable length is 990ft.
The Control Techniques UNI2403 can be mounted either through-hole or surface mounting using the correct brackets. The UNI2403 works in 4 modes. Several option modules are available and can easily be fitted to the UNI2403.
The open-loop mode is used with standard AC induction motors. Power applied by the drive to the motor is user varied. The output frequency of the drive and the slip inform the motor speed. this is due to the mechanical load. By applying for slip compensation the Control Techniques unidrive can improve motor performance. Low-speed performance can be improved but it depends on whether V/f mode or open-loop vector mode is chosen. In V/f mode motor voltage is directly proportional to the frequency. The exception is the low speed where there is a user-set boost in voltage. When should you use this mode? This mode is used when there are multi-motor applications. In open-loop vector mode, the voltage applied to the motor is directly proportional to the frequency. The exception is low speed. When speed is low the drive uses motor parameters to apply the correct voltage. This keeps the flux constant when load conditions vary. Closed-loop vector mode (VT) is used with induction motors. The induction motor will have a speed feedback device fitted. Using this feedback device, the drive directly controls the speed of the motor. This ensures that the rotor speed is correct per the demands. Motor flux is kept under control so that you can enjoy full torque down to zero speed. Servo mode is used with permanent magnet brushless motors. The permanent magnet brushless motors are fitted with a position feedback module. Using the feedback modules, the drive directly controls the speed of the motor to make sure the rotor speed is correct. There is no need for flux control since the motor is self-excited by the magnets that form part of the rotor. Position info is given by the control device for output voltage is correctly matched to the rear EMF of the motor. Regan is used as a regenerative front end in a four-quadrant operation.
