The Unidrive module UNI3404 is a variable speed module manufactured by Control Techniques for the AC driveline for induction and servo motors. It is a 400 V, 30 kW size 3 AC drive with 40 hp and 60 amps.
The typical input current 52 A and the maximum continuous input current is 66 A. The fuse rating is 70 A, and the cable size is 16 mm 24 AWG. AC1 is the recommended AC supply for the Control Techniques UNI3404.
The Control Techniques UNI3404 drive module is a bookcase mounted, size three variable speed drive that is designed to work with appropriate motors, controllers, and other components for your manufacturing needs to realize complete end products or systems. The 400V drive ratings (380V to 480V ±10%) for this module are 30 kW at 380 V, and 40 hp at 460 V. The output current for the drive unit UNI3404 is 60 A, and the input current is typically 52 A.
The label of the Control Techniques Unidrive UNI3404 contains the module number which carries valuable information. UNI indicates Unidrive, the first number of the module indicates the model size. There are control keys beneath the programming keys. The control keys are for forwarding/reversing, stopping/reseting, and Run modes. Next is the large option module connection followed by the small option module connection.
On the bottom front of the module are two available connections. One connection for an encoder and a second connection for control connectors.
The Control Techniques UNI3404 variable speed drive requires no additional short-circuit protection device as the output circuit has quick-acting short-circuit protection. What does the quick-acting electronic short circuit protection do? It limits the fault current to no more than 5 times the rated output current. This interrupts the current in about 20µs.
As long as the motor rate current suits the motor, the Control Techniques UNI3404 variable speed drive provides overload protection for both the motor and the cables that are connected.
