The UNI3405 Unidrive Classic is a size 3 drive with a nominal rating of 37kW and 50hp. The output current for the drive is 70A while the typical input current is 66A. It is recommended that after every 4 years the capacitors are reformed to keep the drive running in good function.
Located on the top surface of the control pod, every UNIDRIVE unit bears a label with an identifiable nameplate with the drive identification and description clearly visible. This is an efficient way to ensure the drive with the correct power ratings and approvals is selected. What pertinent information is available on the label? The top left number is the model followed by the drive type and the power rating. The final info on that line is the customer and date code. Beneath the model’s number/name are the drive ratings. It is here you find such things as the voltage, current, overload, and software version displayed in both input and output values. Under the ratings are the serial no. and a bar code. The approvals are listed to the right of the ratings.
All frame size Unidrive standard industrial models have four operating modes. The four operating modes are for constant torque loads. The four modes are open-loop, closed-loop vector, servo, and regen modes. Overload for open-loop is 150 % for 60 seconds, for closed-loop vector 175 % for 60 seconds (for size 3 UNI3405), servo 175 % for 40 seconds (for size 3 UNI3405), and regen 150 % for 60 seconds.
The UNI 3405 is used in open-loop mode (OL) with standard AC induction motors. The drive applies power to the motor at frequencies the user can vary. The speed of the motor results from the output frequency of the drive and slip from the mechanical load. Motor performance is improved by this UNI3405 drive when it applies for slip compensation. You can alter the low-speed performance by choosing either V/f or open-loop vector mode.
Understanding the keypad display is key to getting the most from your UNI3405 unit. On the front display, two horizontal rows contain 7 segment displays. The Parameter value or the specific trip type is displayed on the upper display while the lower display demonstrates drive status or the current menu as well as the parameter number being viewed. The control buttons are directly beneath the keypad display. The control buttons consist of four arrow buttons used to navigate the parameter structure and altering parameter values. There is one mode button that is used to change between each of the display modes. The modes you may select on this menu are three: parameter view, parameter edit, and status. Finally, there are three control buttons. The control buttons give you control of the drive if you have selected keypad mode. The three selections for the control button start, stop, and forward / reverse. The start button is green, the stop button is red, and the forward/reverse button is blue. You may also use the stop button (red) to reset the drive.
