The SP2403 Universal AC drive is part of the Control Techniques SP series. It has a maximum continuous output current of 29A and a nominal power rating of r 15kW at 400V. At 460V the drive can run a 20HP motor and has a peak current of 31A. SP2403 drives can be run in open and closed loop systems.
The fast-acting electronic short-circuit protection of the output current that caps the fault current to around no more than five times the rated output current interrupts the current in about 20µs. You need no other short circuit protection. The drive gives you overload protection for both the cable and the motor. For this to happen the motor rated current has to be set to fit the motor. For example a 3 kHz frequency with 400 V nominal AC supply voltage has a max cable length of 660 feet. It features a minimum resistance value of 19Ω and peak instantaneous power rating of 33.1 kW. The average power for 60s is 19.3kW.
For normal duty, the power and current ratings with maximum permissible continuous output current @ 40°C (104°F) ambient are 15 kW and 20 hp. The maximum permissible continuous output current (A) for a switching frequency of 3 kHz is 29.0 A, at 4 kHz is 27.2 A, at 6 kHz is 23.2 A, at 8 kHz is 20.0 A, at 12 kHz is 15.0 A and at 16kHz is 11.8 A.
For heavy duty, the maximum permissible continuous output current for the switching frequency is 25.0 A at 3 kHz, 23.7 A at 4 kHz, 19.9A at 6 kHz, 16.9A at 8 kHz, 12.8 A at 12 kHz, and 10.1A at 16 kHz.
The default settings for the current limit parameters for the SP2403 is 150.1 % for open loop and 175 % for closed loop vectors. The default setting for the current limit parameters for servo is 161.2 %.
