The Unidrive SP 3401 is a size 3 mounted Control Techniques drive module with many features to help enhance the performance of your system. The standard unidrive is manufactured for operating modes such as open-loop, closed-loop vector, servo, and regen.
The maximum continuous output current for the normal duty SP module is 35 A. The nominal power at 400 V is 18.5 kW. The motor power at 460 V is 25 hp. For this unit, the peak current is 38 A.
Using the appropriate brackets, the Unidrive SP 3401 can use either one of two mounting techniques. You can use either panel mounting or surface mounting. When this module is through-panel mounted, you must use a baffle plate for the proper level of airflow through the heatsink. How does this work? The baffle plate helps the heatsink to form chimney action for the airflow to move along the fins of the heatsink to help cool the module. This process happens naturally when it is surface mounted.
The Unidrive SP 3401 uses a bookcase filter for surface mounting only.
Identification is made easy with the Control Techniques module SP 3401. A nameplate is designated on the top surface with an easily visible drive rating label. Information such as model, drive type, power rating, customer and date code, drive ratings, and approval ratings.
Safety during installation is imperative and all of the safety information must be followed for the safest installation of your unit. Before installation, the planning stage will help determine the best possible placement of the unidrive. Items under consideration are access, environmental protection, cooling, electrical safety, fire protection, electromagnetic compatibility, and avoiding hazardous areas.
Control Techniques offers several key points of information in the unit number itself. The Unidrive label tells you several things. The SP indicates that a module is a unidrive unit. What can you find out from the number 3401? The first number, 3, indicates the size of the module. In this case, it is a size three drive. The second number, the 4, indicates the voltage rating. In this instance, its voltage rating is 400 V. The power rating is next, and for this unit, the 01 indicates the nominal rating for module 3401 is 15 kW @380 V and 25 hp @ 460 V. The output current for this unit is 34 A and the typical input current is 27 A.
Some of the features for this unit include a SMARTCARD slot, a keypad connection, a serial port connector, and an encoder connection. On the front right of the module, you will find the approvals label and the status LED. Under those features, you will find the solutions module slot 1 and beneath that, you will find slots 2 and 3. Finally, on the bottom right, you will find the control terminals and relay terminals.
