Additional Information
400V AC PANEL MOUNT DRIVE SP3403
The Unidrive SP series module SP3403 is a heavy-duty AC drive manufactured by Control Techniques for use with your industrial needs. It is an electronic unit designed to handle the needs of certain modules. The SP3403 complies with Low Voltage Directive 72/23/EEC is applicable for use with motor modules and controller modules as well as electrical protection components. Together with these and other equipment help establish a productive system that complies with international standards. These pieces of equipment must be installed correctly to meet these standards.
Heavy-duty modules are appropriate for use when you require constant torque for your applications. It is also used when an application has to have high overload capabilities or in cases where you would need to use full torque at low speeds. This occurs when operating winders and hoists and the like. By default, thermal protection is set to protect induction motors that are force ventilated and servo motors with permanent magnets.
Some specifics about the heavy-duty SP3403 include a maximum continuous output current of 46 A and an open-loop peak current of 69 A. The closed-loop peak current is 80.5 A. At 400 V, the nominal power is 22 kW and at 460 V, the motor power is 30 hp.
Depending on your chosen motor, the max percentage overload limit varies. There are many factors where the changes in maximum possible overload occur. There can be variables in the motor rated current and the motor power factors as well as motor leakage inductance.
The module number on the label indicates the particulars of the SP3403. The SP indicates it is part of the Control Techniques Solutions Platform of complete Unidrive units. The next part is the number 3 which indicates the frame size of the SP followed by the voltage rating. In this instance, it is the number 4 which indicates 380 V- 480 V. The 0 indicates that this unit is a wall mount drive. The final number, a three, indicates the current rating step.
The Control Techniques 3403 Unidrive operates in several modes. Its design is exceptional for each of these modes.
- Open-loop mode -includes open-loop vector mode, Fixed V/F mode (V/Hz), and
Quadratic V/F mode (V/Hz)
In this mode, the drive applies power to the motor by using user indicated frequencies.
The two things informing motor speed are the output frequency of the drive and slip due to mechanical load. One way the drive can improve the speed control of the motor is by applying for the slip compensation. Low-speed performance is determined by whether you use V/F mode or open-loop vector mode.
- RFC mode
This mode gives you closed-loop control without requiring position feedback. It accomplishes this by using current, voltages, and key motor parameters to estimate your motor speed.
- Closed-loop vector
This is used with an induction motor when there is a feedback device installed.
- Servo
This mode is used with permanent magnet brushless motors, also with a feedback device installed.
- Regen
