Siemens Simodrive Repair

The Siemens Simodrive series is one of their best selling lines and their most reliable, but that doesn’t mean that the drives will last forever. We’ve been been repairing customers drives for years and pride ourselves on a fast turnaround which is cost effective as well. Customers always want to keep these drives around, as they are a workhorse in the manufacturing industry. The AC drives are used in a range of applications from use in natural gas facilities to pipeline manufacturers around the world, and we’ve been perfecting our Siemens Simodrive repair process to keep these lines running.

The Simodrive 611 series is built to be used in drive assemblies and work with each other drive for optimal performance on a number of axes. The Simodrives are used on machine tools, robots, mass production lines, tool construction, packaging machines, and textiles. The Simodrive 611 converter system is designed as a module transistor converter and is a compact system that can run several axes at once. By swapping out modules, the converter system can be adapted to different applications with ease, and also adapts to every motor that would need to be run with the converter system. The Simodrive series also has common main supply modules that work will the different modules and allow for easy expansion.

The different Simodrive modules have standard designs of 480mm high, 288mm deep, and varying widths depending on the performance of the unit. Each different drive module carries out a specific task, and they are all supplied by a common feed module which links out the DC voltage. Every drive has a power module and a close loop plug in unit, and they are controlled with a Sinumerik 840 D NCU CNC control.

At MRO Electric, we know how important it is to keep these Simodrives running, so we’ve streamlined our Simodrive repair process to turn repairs around in 2-3 days, and in emergency cases we can do a same day turnaround. As soon as the drive comes in, it is taken apart to a component level to diagnose the problem. The individual components are tested and once the fault component is found, the repair is started. We also clean all the other components and perform preventative repairs on anything that is not performing to the factory specs. Once the repair is completed, the drive is reassembled and tested under load in our test rig for several hours before being shipped back out.
