Upgrading From FANUC C Series Servo Amplifier to α Series

If you experience a system failure due to a Fanuc C series servo amplifier, (A06B-6066-H002, H003 etc.) you may feel like your only option is to replace it with the same exact unit. However Fanuc also offers the α series servo amplifiers which features improvements over the C series. In most cases you can replace your C series servo amplifier with the α series servo amplifier that has the identical final four numbers of the C series model number. The chart below outlines this:

The advantages of replacing your C series amplifier with an α series amplifier are:

  • A built in power supply
  • A second interface, type B, as well as the more conventional type A interface
  • Updated power device, intelligent power module, to reduce power loss and increasing reliability

α series amplifiers are also designed with the same dimensions as the C series so that you can install them into your current system easier.

Below is a product video for a 6FC5210-0DF22-2AA0 Siemens PCU unit which we have in stock and ready to ship. This is a Siemens control unit with software set to run a CNC system. We have a video showing the booting up of a similar PCU 50 Siemens unit on a blog post here where we show one of these units powering up. They are basically a computer with an operating system loaded on that you can hook up to a display, keyboard, and mouse to get booted up and programming your system. Siemens 6SN1118-0DJ23-0AA0 Control Card – Product Video

Here is a video of one of the Siemens 6SN1118-0DJ23-0AA0 Control Cards that we have in stock. This is a control card for a Siemens Simodrive system, and would be inserted into a Simodrive power module such as a 6SN1123-1AA00-0EA1. We occasionally have people call in to order just the control card or just the power module, not realizing that they are two separate units that are sold separately. When deciding that you have an issue with one of these, make sure you test both the power module and the control card and order accordingly. The control cards can be used in multiple power modules so there is not one particular setup for installing one of these. If you are replacing the control card, you should also test the power module before replacing the control card because you can end up damaging the replacement 6SN1118-0DJ23-0AA0 control card if it is installed in a faulty power module.

The 6SN1118-0DJ23-0AA0 unit in this video has been fully refurbished, retested, and repackaged in our own packaging. Fanuc A06B-0075-B503 Motor Product Video

Here is a video of one of the many Fanuc AC motors that we have in stock,  and this one is the Fanuc A06B-0075-B503 Motor. This is an AC Fanuc motor that has a brake and a keyway already installed. At 22.85lbs and 8.1 X 15.3 X 6.5 inches, this is one of the smaller motors that Fanuc manufactures. The motor in the video is brand new and comes in the original factory packaging, we only took it out of the packaging to get a video of it. If you are looking to get your old motor repaired, we do also offer a repair service for these AC motors with a standard turnaround of 3-5 days.

Modicon 140CPU43412A CPU Product Video

We currently have both new and refurbished 140CPU43412A CPUs in stock, fully tested and ready to ship out same day if need be. This Modicon 140CPU43412A CPU is one of the more popular CPUs in the Quantum Series from Schneider Electric/Modicon.

Just as a side note, we often get questions as to what the differences between Schneider Electric, Modicon, Square D, and Telemecanique are. Modicon, Square D, and Telemecanique were all bought by Schneider Electric over the years and their products are all now manufactured by Schneider. Back to the CPU, if you are looking for the general description or the technical specs, here is a link to the PDF listed on Graybar’s website. The predecessor to this CPU is the 140CPU43412, where the 140CPU43412A is functional identicial to the non-“A” version, the only differences being that if you are using multiple units in a hot standby system you need to use either two 140CPU43412 units or two 140CPU43412A units, and the “A” version has a unique flash executive which isn’t interchangeable.
